FEBRUARY?? RECAP ANYONE?

Well, I don't know where the time has gone. I just got on my computer this morning and saw that I still had Santa Clause as my blog background!! I think it's time for an update!

Tylers hands are doing really well. He has some large scars on the bottom of his wrists, but nothing that he can't live with! We are so greatful for all the prayers and the thoughts from everyone. He has made such great progress since December. He is still very skeptical of things. I took his favorite blanket (thanks Grandma H!) out of the dryer the other day and it was warm to touch and he wouldn't go near it until it cooled down a little bit... Too bad he had to learn the "HOT" lesson the hard way.

Christmas was a blast! Derek decided to take up the guitar... So I got him a guitar for Christmas this year. Well, actually, he bought himself a guitar this year! I couldn't pick one of those thingys out! He has had alot of fun learning. Thank heavens he has Devin, Shawn, and Damon to jam with!

Electric guitar? And an AMP?? What was I thinking?
Patience is a virtue, right? :)
Just kidding. He's actually done pretty good rockin out!
Dusty and Colby got a train table for Christmas this year. It's been so fun for them.
We all spent Christmas at Stuart and Shauna's new house this year. We had a blast. Shauna is famous for her wonderful Christmas goodies that she makes. They bought a pool table this year and so we decided to make it a weekend and stayed another night out there. It was so fun!

Spiderman shooting his webs. Classic Colby!

Here's our little Tyler feeding himself Cheetos! I was so glad to be able to give him a bath and let his hands get wet, and for him to be able to feed himself again. He was too!

I had to throw this picture in here because it's something that I see often during the day. Dusty raiding the fridge! He's turned into quite the little eater! I wonder how I'm going to keep food in the cubboards with three teenage boys in the house!

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Well, and while we are at it, a Happy Valentines Day too! :)

30 !!!

Derek turned 30 on December 8th. Poor guy! He went out with a bang though. For his birthday I got him METALLICA tickets!! We went to the concert in Boise on the 7th and it was AWESOME! I didn't think I would get into it, but I was headbangin and mosh-pitten with the best of them!! We had a blast! They were so good live. Anyone who knows Derek knows that he is a Metallica freak! He loved it! We had floor tickets and we were about 10 feet from the stage! It was great! We stayed the night and came back early the next morning to take little Tyler back to the doctor. We had been going to Mountain View the last few days for wound care for his hands. They took pictures and emailed them to the burn center in Utah to see what they thought. They wanted to see him, so we went to the University of Utah burn center yesterday and they thought he looked pretty good. They finished cleaning them all off, and bandaged them up. They said that he is not out of the woods yet, but he is looking a lot better. We have to take him back down on Friday next week for another evaluation. This has been a nightmare, but we are so lucky it wasn't worse than it was. Tyler is holding up okay, just sick of the doctor. But he is in good spirits and hopefully they will be all healed up to open his Christmas presents!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEREK!! I LOVE YA!

When it rains......

IT POORS!!
Yesterday morning Tyler climbed up on our fireplace and burnt both of his poor little hands. It was so horrible. I was in the kitchen and I heard him crying a little bit, and then it dawned on me what had probably happened. I ran in to the living room and sure enough, his little palms were almost melted. It was the sickest feeling I have ever had. I felt so bad for him and I couldn't think straight of what I needed to do. So I grabbed him and ran to Derek. We drove to the doctor where they immediately gave him a morphine shot (thank goodness). They told us there wasn't much they could do in the first 24 hours, so they bandaged them up and sent us home. They said they were probably 2nd degree burns which is good because it didn't do any nerve damage. We went back this morning and they had to "debride" them. Which means they had to cut all of the dead skin off. He did remarkably well and watched them the whole time. Derek and I on the other hand were a mess..... But he is doing good. He's sore, but still tries to crawl on them a little and is okay holding his bottle. I feel like such a horrible mom. I should have known better. Dr.McKinlay said they were almost 3rd degree burns, but not quite, so we were happy about that. I don't think I'll use our fireplace again until he's 8.

HappY BiRthDaY TyLeR!!

My baby Tyler turned 1 year old on Friday November 27th.

I still can't believe he kept his beautiful blue eyes!

Among the party goers were my Grandma and Grandpa Herbst , also there was Stuart and Shauna (who hosted the event!) Devin and Nikki, Damon, Destiny and Shawn, my mom and dad, and my brother Ryan and Cody brought their sweet kids Madyson, Cason, and Reygan.

I don't think Tyler got to open one of his gifts entirely before Dusty and Colby got impatient and took it away! He didn't care though!

I didn't get any pictures of his cake though.... When I took his shirt off to let him dig in, I noticed his chest was contracting really hard, like he was having a hard time breathing.... He was weezing really bad, so I left the party and ran him into the doctor. It turned out that he had pneumonia!! I had to bring home a nebulizer and give him breathing treatments through the night these last few days.... It's been crazy. He has gotten alot better though. His cough is almost gone, and his medicine has been working. So I feel much better about him now. I just felt bad that we had him shoving chocolate cake down his throat and everything. Poor kid... I guess we'll never forget his 1st birthday!

HaPpY HaLLoWEEN!

Tyler was Frog-man for Halloween this year. I think I'm getting my money's worth out of this costume..... Well worth it though, he's a cutie pie!

Tyler is such a sweetheart. I just love this baby so much!

OK, so here's the deal with SPIDERMAN!! Originally the boys were going to be transformers for Halloween this year because we went to the store and they didn't have Colby's size in the spiderman costume.... SOOOO, we bought the transformer costumes and it was all settled right?? Wrong...... I just can't handle the thought of my kids not getting to be what they REALLY wanted to be for Halloween. So I found Colby's size in the spiderman costume, and I bought that one too!! The day before Halloween, Derek and I surprised them with these new costumes! They were SOOOO excited! I guess you could call me a sucker. They have been spiderman two years in a row! Oh-well, thats their favorite!

We went to the Rose Ward Carnival this year. It was so much fun. They had face painting (thanks for the spider webs Shauna!!) and they had a cupcake walk, bobbing for apples, a dougnut eating contest, miniture golf, pumpkin bowling, and yummy dinner!! It was great!

My sister Angie brought her 4 kids down from Rigby to trick-or-treat at my house this year. It was so fun to see her cute kids in their costumes. L-R is Layton, Morgan holding Tyler, Dusty, Allie, Kate, and Colby. They are such great friends and I'm so glad they came to visit us!

We Got That SOB!!

I had to say goodbye to the Honda today... We out grew the car and so now we have an SOB! We are so excited about it. It's a Toyota Highlander. It's got plenty of elbow room for our boys, and it's a lot of fun to drive (when it's my turn)! It's so much more convenient for our family. I'm so glad we got it. I hated putting carseats in and out of our little car. This is so much bigger! I love it!
